Port Canaveral – August 16, 2025 – Port Canaveral’s Jetty Park shoreline was filled with hundreds of park visitors, campers, and beachgoers providing an enthusiastic send-off to the world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, as she embarked from the Port on her maiden voyage this afternoon.

The multitude of cruise fans had assembled at the Port’s popular recreational facility to join in the “Star-Studded Sailabration” – complete with custom branded “wave-out” banners and oversized signage – to bid “bon voyage” to Star of the Seas guests and crew members who were aboard the Port’s newest homeported ship for the inaugural sailing.

Escorted by Canaveral Fire Rescue’s Fireboat 2 and tugboats, Christine S from E.N. Bisso and the Patriot from Marine Towing of Port Canaveral, providing a traditional maritime water cannon salute, Star of the Seas was the new “starlet” in a parade of cruise ships departing Port Canaveral that afternoon, including Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras and Freedom, the Disney Treasure, and the Norwegian Aqua.

The free “Party in the Park” was organized by the Port as a celebration of cruising for the Port community to enjoy a day of family-friendly fun with food trucks, a DJ, a bubble machine, themed giveaways and more.  “Star-Studded Sailabration” participants could also have their photo taken with a real-life  DeLorean car inspired by Star of the Seas’ new “Back to the Future: The Musical,” and featured in the beloved 1985 film.

After returning from her inaugural four-day voyage, Star of the Seas will be officially christened during an invitation-only naming ceremony aboard the ship while she is docked at Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 1. The ship will begin sailing week-long cruises to The Bahamas and eastern and western Caribbean at the end of the month.
