Port Canaveral, FL – Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) has scheduled a meeting to roll out the Port's Strategic Master Plan draft.  The community session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16th in the Commissioners' Meeting Room at the Port's Maritime Center.  Bermello Ajamil & Partners, consultants who prepared the plan for the CPA, will provide an overview of the master plan draft, and Port staff will be on-hand for breakout sessions to answer questions on details of the plan draft.

Port Canaveral, FL – Today, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) removed waterside restrictions for Port Canaveral to facilitate full resumption of commercial vessel operations. The Port is continuing to address issues related to infrastructure, specifically the degraded water supply to fully regain operational capability. These limitations affect the Port's firefighting capability, availability of safe drinking water, and sanitation facilities.

Port Canaveral, FL – Port Canaveral is continuing to make progress towards regaining full operational capability. U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) late yesterday set Hurricane Condition Four in the Port and approved restricted commercial vessel transit through Port Canaveral. The Hurricane Condition Four remains in effect today for Port Canaveral due to issues related to the port infrastructure, specifically the degraded water supply.

Port Canaveral, FL – Efforts are well underway at Port Canaveral to resume normal operations. As of 12 noon today, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) approved restricted commercial vessel transit through Port Canaveral to allow the Port to support the arrival of critical fuel supplies destined for Florida consumers, and to receive cruise ships that were diverted from Port Canaveral prior to the arrival of Hurricane Irma.

In fact, the move for ships to use clean fuels is a need the seaport has to fill, Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray said during Orlando Business Journal’s Doing Business in Brevard County event on Aug. 25.

Norwegian Cruise Line will offer cruises to Cuba from Port Canaveral starting in summer 2018. The cruise line will send Norwegian Sun fresh off a dry-dock overhaul to the port, offering four-night voyages with overnight stops in Havana, as well as Key West, and three-night itineraries to the Bahamas.

On Wednesday, Port Canaveral hosted the official opening of a 24,000 square foot manufacturing facility for satellite supplier RUAG Space USA, a sign of the growing importance of the space business for a port that is best known for its cruises. Port Canaveral was the site today for a full-scale training exercise designed to test emergency response and recovery plans for a major incident staged at the Port’s Cruise Terminal 5.  The Canaveral Port Authority, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Canaveral Fire Rescue sponsored the exercise to assess public safety response capabilities and future training requirements.

The launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 is scheduled to liftoff between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from the Kennedy Space Center. Cruise ships are a familiar sight at Port Canaveral, looming on the horizon low and large as you cross over the Banana River.

Expect to see more, because it’s already been a good year for Florida’s cruise industry. In fact, Florida bookings increased 20 percent so far in 2017 compared to the same period last year, AAA said in a release.
