US Senators Look to Help Set Cruising in Motion Again

MCsenators.pngCruising in the United States has been under a No Sail Order by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the phased approach nationwide to reopening businesses, the cruise industry is also exploring ways to safely come back online.  Florida Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio have introduced a bill in Congress titled “Set Sail Safely Act”, which would establish a federal maritime task force to explore how cruise lines and ports can resume cruising operations again in a safe manner. The task force would be in partnership with representatives from the private-sector and various federal agencies. Senator Rubio said the bill would “provide a road map for cruise lines and port authorities to safely resume operations, allowing our valuable tourism economy, and the people it employs, to begin to recover.”
