Renovations at CT8 Underway

Over the past month the Port’s partners on this cruise terminal project, PCL and Heard Construction, have been erecting structural steel and installing metal decking for the new extended drop off canopy and expanded check-in area. The new structure you see on the back of the building will be an interior ramp for disembarking guests from the passenger boarding bridge down to the first-floor baggage area. Underground utilities and concrete flatwork have also been installed. Work crews are installing new terrazzo flooring and repairing existing flooring on the first and second floors of the terminal in order to give cruising customers a fresh, new welcome upon stepping foot into the terminal. The terminal also is undergoing waterside renovations in order to accommodate the new, larger class of ships, such as the Disney Wish. The waterside partners on this project, RUSH Marine and Jacobs Engineering, also have a targeted completion date of April 2021. Recently there has been pile driving at the dock. Offsite there has been the continued fabrication of precast deck panels, bollards and fenders. Finally, there is a new Passenger Boarding Bridge that is being built in Barcelona Spain by Adelte that will accommodate the new Disney ship coming in late 2021. We look forward to seeing the magic of the progress continue to unfold in the Disney terminal!
