Port Canaveral, FL – In keeping with Port Canaveral’s commitment to environmental stewardship, a new visitor education program was initiated at the Port aimed at protecting wild dolphins swimming in waters surrounding the Port. 
Port Canaveral, FL – Port Canaveral is inviting amateur photographers to take their best shot – or shots – and enter their favorite pictures in the 65th Anniversary Port Canaveral photo contest. Interested participants have until September 30, 2018, to submit up to three original digital photographs taken in or around Port Canaveral that illustrates an aspect of the Port – scenery, cruise or cargo ships, pleasure boats, nature, Port operations, wildlife, and space launches as seen from Port Canaveral. A volunteer panel of five judges will review all photos submitted and select the top three for each of five categories. 

Port Canaveral, FL – Canaveral Port Authority employees gathered on the front lawn of the Port’s Maritime Center to raise a commemorative flag in what will be the first of a series of events acknowledging sixty-five years of Port Canaveral history, growth and success.  

Port Canaveral, FL –  The U.S. Navy’s newest fast-attack submarine, the USS Indiana (SSN 789), will be commissioned at Naval Ordinance Test Unit (NOTU) on September 29, 2018.  The historic commissioning event is expected to draw attendance by senior military leaders, elected and appointed governmental officials and numerous business and community leaders. A series of commissioning-related events will be held at Port Canaveral prior to and after the commissioning ceremony. 
 

Port Canaveral, FL – The Canaveral Harbor and Canaveral Sand Bypass projects will receive priority funding in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fiscal Year 2018 Workplan. The Corps has allocated $14,760,000 to the Canaveral Harbor Sand Bypass project and $1,470,000 will be provided for maintenance of the Port’s harbor and the Canaveral Locks. 

Port Canaveral, FL – Texas A&M Maritime Academy cadets and their faculty sailed into Port Canaveral aboard the U.S. Maritime Service Training Ship Kennedy, marking the first arrival of the vessel at the Port.  275 Texas Maritime Academy cadets are on-board the vessel to gain critical hands-on ship operating experience in fulfillment of a required seven-week sea term.
Port Canaveral, FL –  Port Canaveral has completed, ahead of schedule, an eight-month modernization project to renovate its North Cargo Piers 1 and 2.  The project is part of an overall infrastructure improvement plan to maximize usability of existing bulkhead space at the Port.
Port Canaveral, FL – Canaveral Port Authority has named Michael B. Poole as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Port Canaveral, effective May 11, 2018. A well-respected seaport industry executive, Poole brings to the Port 30 years experience in maritime transportation, municipal finance, public accounting, and financial and operating auditing.
Port Canaveral, FL – Fitch Ratings affirmed today the 'A' rating on approximately $64.3 million of Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) port revenue bonds.  The Rating Outlook is Stable.  Today's announcement by the credit rating agency underscores Port Canaveral's market position as a leading cruise-focused port in the U.S. With approximately five million revenue passengers expected in Fiscal Year 2018, the Port is the world's second busiest cruise port and Florida's third largest by operating revenue.
Port Canaveral, FL – Port Canaveral has commenced the largest single construction project in the history of the Port. Demolition of the Port’s oldest cruise terminal began today to make way for a new state-of-the-art terminal with upgraded berth and a new parking garage. Deconstruction of the existing Cruise Terminal 3 facility is expected to be completed by July this year.
