6/2/2021
Public parking on Port will be limited to
Jetty Park and other designated areas
Visitors and guests are advised to plan accordingly
Port Canaveral, FL – June 2, 2021-
Port Canaveral today released its plan for public access to the Port for viewing the arrival of Carnival Cruise Line’s newest and most innovative ship,
Mardi Gras
, scheduled to arrive early Friday morning, June 4 to new Cruise Terminal 3 (CT3). Subject to change, the
Mardi Gras
is expected to pass Jetty Park by 6:15 a.m. and proceed to the Middle Turning Basin, where she will turn around and transit to CT3 by 7 a.m. Visitors may view the Mardi Gras’ arrival and from Jetty Park, or from The Cove district.
Access to viewing points at Port Canaveral will be limited, and traffic in and around the Port will be controlled.
“We have been waiting for the
Mardi Gras
to come home for some time, and we know that there is a tremendous public interest to watch her arrival at the Port,” said Port CEO Capt. John Murray. “We have worked with BCSO to address the public’s demand while maintaining our focus on public safety.”
The Port’s plan was jointly developed by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Canaveral Fire Rescue and Canaveral Port Authority Public Safety to minimize traffic congestion, ensure public safety, and promote a safe environment for Port employees, contractors, tenants and the community.
Port Canaveral highly recommends
Mardi Gras
watchers consider the limitations for public parking at the Port on Friday.
No drone photography will be permitted.
Electronic signs on Port Canaveral roadways and intersections will advise motorists of road restrictions, as well as when parking capacity has been reached at designated parking areas. Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies will monitor traffic, control key traffic intersections, ensure boater access to the Freddie Patrick Park boat ramps, and enforce parking on and around the Port.
Vehicles heading to Jetty Park should enter the Port via George King Boulevard, and guests are reminded parking passes must be purchased online
prior to
arriving at the park. No cash or credit card transactions are allowed at the entrance booth.
Brevard County Sheriff’s office deputies will be in place to assist drivers and patrolling the Port to enforce parking. Visitors to Jetty Park are reminded to practice social distancing.
JETTY PARK
