Junior Port Ambassadors named

Port Canaveral, FL - The first class of the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners’ student Junior Ambassadors has been named. The ambassadors for the 2019-2020 school year are:

Jacob Loufek, Merritt Island High School
Paulie Riggs, Cocoa High School
Meghan Layne, Merritt Island High School
Michelle Retig, Cocoa High School
Carter Tabin, Astronaut High School
Justin Cook, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School
Kashena Nembhard, Astronaut High School
Ethan Gostwick, Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School
Isabella Smith, Space Coast Jr/Sr High School;
Aaron Niazi, Merritt Island High School.

 
The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners’ Junior Ambassador Program will enable students at nine public high schools and two private high schools within the Canaveral Port Authority Special District to share career opportunities at the Port and provide workforce development and community outreach. Home-schoolers and Clearlake Adult Education Program students up to age 19 also were eligible.
 
During the school year, students in grades 9 through 12 will meet with Port leaders in such areas as cruise, cargo, recreation, hospitality, environment and recreation. The students’ final project will be a presentation that features what they’ve learned. Junior ambassadors will share their presentations with the Commission and with students at their respective schools.
