July 3rd Fireworks Event at Port Canaveral Cancelled

July 3rd Fireworks Event at Port Canaveral Cancelled
Port Canaveral, FL -  The July 3rd fireworks event scheduled to take place at Port Canaveral has been cancelled to comply with all federal and state recommendations to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“This was a difficult decision and surely disappointing for the thousands of people who for years have enjoyed this annual event at the Port. Considering the logistical challenges of maintaining social distancing with such a large-scale event, and to promote the safety and well-being of our employees, our Cove merchants, their employees and guests, and the community at large this was the responsible decision to make,” said Port CEO Capt. John Murray.
The Canaveral Port Authority’s decision to cancel its fireworks celebration follows similar cancellation decisions made by the cities of Cocoa, Cocoa Beach and Rockledge.
The July 3rd celebration and fireworks display at Port Canaveral has been a long-standing annual tradition and a collaborative effort of the Canaveral Port Authority and the Port’s Cove Merchants Association. The event consists of free family-oriented entertainment on the lawn of Exploration Tower followed by a twenty-minute fireworks display over the Canaveral Harbor.
