Port Canaveral’s mobile harbor crane is back at work for a second time, lifting universal composite submarine panels for client, CPK Manufacturing LLC. The camels provide the U.S. Navy with a standardized energy-absorbing berthing solution for waterfront infrastructures. They are strategically placed between a submarine and mooring structure to transfer berthing and mooring loads.  This new design is made with fiber reinforced polymer panels, which are stronger yet lighter in weight than traditional materials.

Prior to the use of these new camels, the Navy was using several designs with various traditional materials. Additionally, the new camel's material is corrosion resistant, needs little to no maintenance, and therefore is both resilient and long lasting. We were excited to assist in the lift and placement of this new waterside infrastructure.
