Port Canaveral, FL  – Port Canaveral has received the U.S. Coast Guard’s 2020 Rear Admiral Richard E. Bennis Award for maritime security excellence The Port received notification of the award from Admiral Karl L. Schultz, the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. Port Canaveral was selected as the national Port Authority recipient “for demonstrating the industry’s overall commitment to maritime security and safeguarding the nation’s vital Marine Transportation System.”

The Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) and the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) have executed an “Interlocal Agreement for Electronic Parking Fee Collection” to implement the E-PASS automated system at the Port that will enable customers to use contactless payment for parking at Port Canaveral-owned parking facilities with an E-PASS prepaid account. The CPA Board of Commissioners voted to unanimously approve the agreement at its October 28, 2020 regular meeting followed by the unanimous approval by the CFX Board at its November 12, 2020 meeting.

Port Canaveral today released its plan for public access to the Port for viewing the scheduled Nov 15 liftoff of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, the second crewed mission launched from the U.S. since 2011. The launch is currently scheduled for Saturday, Nov 15th at 7:49 p.m. from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center north of the Port.
Access to popular launch viewing points at Port Canaveral will be limited, and traffic in and around the Port will be controlled.

In a new report based on discussions with maritime stakeholders, Federal Maritime Commissioner Louis E. Sola has catalogued the economic impact of COVID-19 on Florida's cruise sector and its seaports. The effects of the cruise shutdown have been serious for cruise operators, but the collateral damage has also extended to port authorities and cities throughout the state.
Effective August 3, 2020, the Captain of the Port has set Port Condition Four for Port Canaveral at 12pm local time. The Port is now open.
The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) has set hurricane condition "ZULU" for Port Canaveral. Sustained gale force winds are predicted within 12 hours. Port Canaveral is closed and has ceased all waterside and vessel shoreside Port operations until further notice. Port Canaveral, FL – The Canaveral Port Authority has been awarded $908,015 in federal funding by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Port Security Grant Program (PSGP).  The grant will be augmented by a 25 percent Port match for a $1.2 million project to improve Port Canaveral’s port-wide risk prevention, threat mitigation and security response service capabilities

Port Canaveral, FL  – Port Canaveral Foreign Trade Zone #136 operator American Cruise-Aid Logistics, Inc. has increased its operating footprint at the Port with the opening of a new 9,500-square-foot warehouse building located adjacent to its current 15,000-square-foot facility on Atlantis Road in Cape Canaveral. The full-service freight forwarding and transportation company recently received approval for its expansion from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners.
