Port Canaveral, FL – The Canaveral Port Authority has partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Brevard County Natural Resources Management on a critical shoreline preservation project representing a historic investment of $41 million, all of which is 100% federally funded. This represents the sixth iteration of an ongoing federal initiative designed to mitigate for downdrift erosion caused by the Canaveral Harbor Federal navigation project.
 
“This important project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has restored miles of beaches over the past several decades while ensuring the continued safe navigation of our harbor,” stated Capt. Port Canaveral, FL - Port Canaveral – the world’s second busiest homeport – has been named “Best Cruise Homeport” for the fifth time in the annual Cruise Hive Awards which are based on surveys of readers of the popular online publication.  According to Cruise Hive, Port Canaveral more than doubled the number of votes of the second-place homeport, reaffirming the port as the top choice for cruisers.

Port Canaveral, FL – Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Venezia arrived at Port Canaveral today, becoming the record-breaking 16th ship to homeport at the world’s second busiest cruise port. Carnival Venezia is the fifth ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet at Port Canaveral joining Carnival’s Mardi Gras, Carnival Vista, Carnival Glory, and Carnival Freedom to offer a broad spectrum of ship choices, itinerary options, and cruise durations from the Central Florida region.

Port Canaveral, FL - Steven Shelton – an accomplished facilities management professional with more than 15 years of experience overseeing facilities for some of the world’s top hotels and resorts – has been named Vice President – Facilities Optimization at the Canaveral Port Authority.
 
In this newly created role, Shelton oversees the Port’s extensive and diversified maintenance program that includes automated systems and equipment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, boarding bridges, security/access control, fire detection and protection, building, grounds, and fleet maintenance, working closely with internal leaders and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, tenants, suppliers, and consultants.

Port Canaveral, FL – December 7, 2024 – Celebrity Equinox arrived at Port Canaveral this week, making history as the first Celebrity Cruises ship to sail from the popular Central Florida Port. The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox becomes Port Canaveral’s 15th vessel to call the world’s second busiest cruise port home.
Port Canaveral, FL -  Port Canaveral continues to expand its fleet of homeported cruise ships with today’s arrival of Princess Cruises Caribbean Princess, the first “Love Boat” to be homeported at the Port, kicking off its slate of 4- to 14- day itineraries to the Caribbean and Central America.
 
Establishing Port Canaveral as a homeport is part of the expansion of Princess Cruises’ North America presence to offer exciting new voyage options that guests can conveniently access from major drive markets like Central Florida.

Port Canaveral, FL – Canaveral Port Authority CEO Capt. John Murray today delivered his annual State of the Port address providing a comprehensive recap of Port Canaveral’s 2024 performance with revenue growth in all business sectors and a strong outlook projected for the coming fiscal year. The Port’s total earned revenues came in at $191 million with cruise operations contributing $156 million, cargo $23 million and non-ship operations at $12 million. 
 
“Port Canaveral continues to be a strategic economic driver for creating jobs, helping local businesses to grow and prosper, and bringing more guests to experience all that our Port community has to offer,” stated Capt. Port Canaveral, FL -  Port Canaveral welcomed another new ship to its impressive lineup of homeport vessels with today’s arrival of Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Treasure. Disney Treasure is the third Disney Cruise Line ship to be based in Port Canaveral, joining Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy to provide hundreds of thousands of guests with magical seagoing adventures each year.

A meeting was held on September 19, 2024, to support public interest in the Coast Guard's Port Access Route Study (PARS) for the Approaches to the Port of Cape Canaveral and Vessel Transit Offshore Jacksonville, Daytona, and Canaveral, Florida. The Coast Guard discussed the PARS notice of study that was published on April 17, 2024, and next steps for public engagement. This meeting was open to the public, and the Coast Guard invited those attending to bring additional comments that support the goals of the PARS.
Port Canaveral, FL – The MV Canopée, the world’s first hybrid propulsion commercial cargo vessel made its inaugural U.S. visit to Port Canaveral. The specially designed Ro-Ro (roll on- roll off) delivered the European Service Module (ESM-3) module, which will fly on the NASA SLS Artemis-III mission to the moon for the first time since the Apollo era.

"Port Canaveral was thrilled to welcome the MV Canopée on its first visit to the U.S. and proud to support NASA and their European Space Agency partners as they prepare for a historic return to the Moon,” stated Capt.
