General
Launch Hazard Area Information

Because hazard areas differ with each type of launch vehicle, several measures have been taken to inform mariners and aviators of the launch dates and areas affected. They include:

An electronic sign at the Port that displays information approximately three days before a launch.

Advisories, including a map, distributed to all local media for broadcast approximately four days prior to a launch.

Information is faxed and e-mailed to more than 40 marinas three days prior to the launch.

On launch day, the 45th Range Squadron broadcasts information on Marine Band channels 8, 68, 69, 72, 74 and 88.

The U.S. Coast Guard broadcasts the launch information on Marine Band 16.

Cooperative efforts have been established with fishing tournament planners.

Commercial fishermen receive weekly launch schedules.

Information is broadcast via NOAA weather.

Awareness flyers are posted at boat registration offices.
