POSITION: PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE & TIRE TECHNICIAN – FULL TIME, ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION
SALARY: $9.75/HOUR
SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment. This position is under the direction of the Fleet Manager.
DUTIES:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance and tire replacement and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Responsible for periodic inspection, bookkeeping, and parts procurement for all fleet vehicles and equipment owned by the Canaveral Port Authority.
- Maintain preventative maintenance program for all fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with other fleet maintenance duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, two years vehicle maintenance experience and the ability to work alone with minimal supervision. Valid Florida Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate to heavy physical effort in heavy work, typically involving some combination of reaching or bending, and that may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (50 - 75 pounds).
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks are performed outdoors or in a shop environment, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents. Some tasks are performed in an environment with potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity, toxic agents. Tasks include working around moving parts, equipment, carts, and materials handling where physical risks are predictable/controllable by observance of standard safety precautions.
POSITION: Purchasing Specialist – Full-Time Non-Exempt Position
SALARY: $11.00 to $17.19/Hour
SUMMARY:
The purpose of the job is to perform daily buying functions, assist in the administration of the Department’s automated purchasing software program, maintain the CPA’s fixed asset program and provide specialized administrative support to the Purchasing Manager. Performs related work as directed.
DUTIES:
- Confers with various department users to determine needs for commodities, materials, supplies and equipment and solicits quotes as required.
- Reviews historical data for each assigned commodity class and develops a plan to provide advantageous prices and expeditious delivery through an effective balance of term contracts, blanket purchase orders and open market purchases.
- Works with department users to ensure compliance with purchasing policies and regulations while fulfilling department needs.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions and process purchase orders.
- Maintain vendor records and insurance certificate database.
- Maintain fixed asset program including data entry, tagging, annual physical inventory and reconciliation.
- Provide administrative support to Purchasing Manager for contracts and formal solicitation processes, including scheduling, correspondence and recordkeeping.
- Work on special projects for Purchasing and Finance which involve accounting concepts and skills.
- Assist in the organization of the Annual Reverse Trade Show.
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and three (3) years of purchasing experience, preferably in a public sector environment; greater experience in public purchasing and/or Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) may substitute for a portion of the experience requirements; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Strong accounting background required. Must have experience with integrated financial software systems (SunGard IFAS preferred) and must be very proficient with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word and Excel). Must be detail oriented, organized and professional. Must be a team player with exceptional interpersonal skills (both spoken and written). Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of reaching or bending, and that may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Some tasks include working around moving parts, light to moderate weight motor equipment, and materials handling where physical risks are predictable and/or controllable by observance of standard safety precautions.
POSITION: Supervisor, Jetty Park – Full-Time, Exempt Position
SALARY: $26,480 to $42,040 Annually
SUMMARY:
This position will be an individual on staff of the Canaveral Port Authority who will be responsible for complete oversight of all three Port Canaveral Park operations. Work hours vary and may frequently include nights, weekends and holidays.
DUTIES:
- Assists store employees with their work.
- Creates and oversees schedules for store employees.
- Disseminate tasks and orders to employees.
- Trains new hires.
- Assist customers with their inquiries, suggestions and handles complaint resolutions.
- Communicates with the Director, Terminal Operations regarding the sales, employees and other important matters.
- Provide reports both financial and operational to the Director, Terminal Operations.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven supervisory skills required.
- Knowledge of store operations, park operations and campground operations or similar experience required.
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic accounting and/or bookkeeping skills required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word software.
POSITION: General Maintenance Technicial – Level I
SALARY: Grade 10 - $9.75 - $16.96 Hourly
SUMMARY:
This position is Full Time and the individual on staff of the Canaveral Port Authority who is responsible for the general maintenance of al post property. This position reports directly to the General Maintenance Supervisor.
DUTIES:
- Maintain the operational readiness of the roads, buildings, piers and equipment of the port.
- Operate Canaveral Port Authority trucks and other job-related machinery.
- Apply cold patches to asphalt roads, prints structures and equipment and performs other maintenance tasks assigned requiring similar skills.
- Perform duties requiring skills in one or more of the following disciplines: welding, carpentry, electrical repairs, plumbing, heavy equipment operations, piling, pier maintenance or dock services.
- Perform line-handling duties for all ships arriving or departing the port.
- Attendance to include all holidays scheduled as required for CPA operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be able to drive standard and manual vehicles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED, valid Florida Drivers License, must be able to drive standard and manual vehicles. This position will require working various shift and hours as well as holidays. Schedules will change as workload requires.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks involve the intermittent performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). May require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks are performed in outdoor environments. Due to the nature and location of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements, e.g., heat, humidity, inclement weather. Some tasks include working in and around moving vehicles and associated vehicle/equipment areas, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents.

POSITION: Police Officer (Part Time)
SALARY: Dependent on qualifications.
SUMMARY:
This posting is to establish an Eligibility List for future Police Officer positions.
Performs assigned duties with operational and administrative components such as: Cruise Terminal Security Operations, Marine Patrol, Cargo Area Regulatory Enforcement, Special Events, evidence, vehicle maintenance, inventory control, and communications. Work is performed under the general direction of the Police Sergeant to maintain law and order and protect the public, detect and prevent crimes, direct and control traffic, and investigate and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity. Perform duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Skills:
- High School Diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Public Administration or a related field preferred
- One (1) year of experience as a sworn Police Officer
- Certification by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Police Standards and Training Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer
- Valid State of Florida Drivers License
- Possess and maintain current CPR Certification to include the use of AED.
- Must be at least nineteen years of age
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
- Must meet minimum physical and medical requirements
- Must reside within 50 miles from Port Canaveral
- Must pass an oral review board
- Must be able to work day or night, weekdays, weekends or holidays, any shift, any day of the week
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physical Ability: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, calculators, copies, facsimile machines, firearms, restraint devices, two-way radios, surveillance equipment, cameras, flashlights, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may involve walking, standing, running and physical confrontation. Physical demand requirements are for Medium to Heavy Work. Must have the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using law enforcement equipment. Sensory Requirements: In accordance with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement minimum vision must be at least 20/70 either/or both, corrected to 20/30, and the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of colors and hearing must be normal at a distance of fifteen (15) feet.
