POSITION: Parking Attendant Part-Time - Level I – Jetty Park

SALARY: $8.75/hour

SUMMARY:

This position is the individual on staff of the Canaveral Port Authority who assists in
the execution of Paid Parking Lot activities. This position reports to the Jetty Park
Supervisor and is under the technical direction of the Director, Terminal Operations.

The incumbent's duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

Collect and safeguard parking fees collected from users of Canaveral Port Authority parking
lots in accordance with CPA procedures.
2. Maintain an accurate accounting for all funds handled at the Canaveral Port Authority
Parking Lots. Functions include pick up starting cash at designated location, verify accuracy
of cash as shown on starting cash bag, collect fees, and prepare and deposit all receipts in
designated bank depositories.
3. Safely facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in areas surrounding
the assigned Cruise Terminals. Direct charter buses, passenger shuttles and taxis to
designated drop-off and loading areas. Direct parking lot users to designated parking areas, i.e.
employees, passengers, visitors, vendors and crewmembers.
4.
Enforce parking restrictions and assist in identifying unlicensed taxis and shuttles. Assist
in providing safety and security for users of parking lots and other outside facilities. Guard
against abuse of CPA parking facilities. Lock and secure gates as directed at the close of
business.
5. Operate manual and hydraulic passenger gangway at Cruise Terminals. Advise ship
personnel when “lineup” is satisfactory. Ensure that gangways are used only when they are
within specified operating parameters.
6. Provide transportation on approved vehicles for passengers and employees requiring
assistance from their parking location to the Cruise Terminal.
7.

POSITION: Reservation/Store Clerk – Part-Time – Jetty Park

SALARY: $9.88/hour

SUMMARY:

Provide customer service and hospitality to park and campground visitors. Perform duties directly connected to the operations of a fully operational
reservation office and retail store.

Duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Utilize campground software to process all campground/pavilion reservations.
  • Provide visitors/campground guests with information and responses to questions regarding Jetty Park, campground and local points of interest.
  • Respond to park visitor complaints.
  • Utilize phone system in an efficient manner in order to provide expedited call return times, reservations, park inquiries, etc..
  • Provide customers with effective alternatives if their first choice is not available.
  • Monitors office supply inventory; prepares and signs requisitions for supplies, printing and other services.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive filing system.
  • Operates personal computer, various office equipment and software/programs.
  • Operate a Point of Sale system.
  • Provide accurate record keeping of inventory both incoming and outgoing.
  • Perform various opening/closing duties such as, but not limited to, cleaning, locking/ unlocking doors, on and off site analysis of surrounding areas.
  • Ensure that all rules/regulations are being adhered to by park guests.
  • Communicate with other personnel and departments on maintenance/emergency issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent plus one (1) year experience in a customer service environment reservation desk clerk or call center
preferred. Must have money handling and computer experience including Microsoft Excel.

POSITION: Administrative Assistant Police Department – (Full Time)

SALARY: $10.48/hour to $16.37/hour

SUMMARY:

Performs complex secretarial, administrative, and clerical work of a diverse nature. Performs various
specialized secretarial and clerical duties requiring in depth knowledge of the particular department
and/or unit of assignment. Includes broad working knowledge of the overall organization and the Port’s
various programs, policies and procedures. Work performed generally involves specialized/technical
subject matter and may require familiarity with the terminology used in the assigned area. Provides
principal secretarial support for a large and/or complex Department, usually having several functional
areas of responsibility for the Port. Assignments are usually performed with general instructions, guidance
and minimal supervision.

  • Organizes and assembles material needed for meetings, conferences, public hearings, etc. and coordinates scheduling arrangements; prepares and distributes agendas and other pertinent information; attends meetings, takes and transcribes minutes; distributes minutes and maintains the official records.
  • Acts as liaison between the various sections within the Department and coordinates the preparation of routine assignments and special projects to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Composes and types correspondence for management's signature, either from general instructions or information obtained from researching files.
  • Compiles and prepares detailed financial, statistical, and/or other specialized reports from general instructions; tabulates totals and verifies figures.
  • Maintains calendar and schedules tentative appointments; advises management and staff of important meetings; makes travel arrangements for supervisor and staff.
  • Monitors office supply inventory; prepares and signs requisitions for supplies, printing and other services.
  • Reviews and edits correspondence, memoranda, reports and other material for clarity, procedural and typographic accuracy; may reword or reconstruct sentences. Screens telephone calls to determine if matter should be addressed by supervisor or referred to other staff member or other department/unit.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive filing system; maintains leases, contracts, and agreements for Department.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budget, payroll reporting; monitors expenditure records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by five to seven (5-7) years progressively
responsible administrative experience, with responsibility for conducting research, monitoring and
maintaining complex financial records, budget preparation, and handling complaints. College degree,
administrative support in a law enforcement environment and bilingual preferred; or an equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience. Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel,
Access and PowerPoint.

POSITION: Port Canaveral Security Officer - Part-Time

SALARY: $9.75/Hour

SUMMARY:
Persons within this classification are part-time employees who shall perform security duties under the supervision of the Port Canaveral Police Department's Security Manager, and/or Watch Commander. A class "D" license is not required. Port Canaveral Security Officers shall provide access control functions at designated security posts with the Port of Canaveral in compliance with 33 CFR part 105, Florida State Statute 311, the Port Canaveral Police Department's rules and regulations; Port Canaveral tariffs; and the Port Facility Security Plan (FSP). The duties may include providing support and assistance to law enforcement on special details or assignments.

DUTIES:

  • Recognize and correct access control and credentialing problems within specified protocols.
  • Maintain electronic & written logs, reports, & forms.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely via radio and in writing.
  • Observe for security violations, FSP non-compliance, unusual situations, hazardous conditions, and take appropriate action as outlined within the Department's standard operating procedures.
  • Possess knowledge of current security threats and patterns (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Recognize and detect dangerous substances and devices (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Recognize, on a non-discriminatory basis, characteristics and behavioral patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Have knowledge of techniques used to circumvent security measures (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Have knowledge of crowd management and control techniques (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Have knowledge of the meaning and the consequential requirements of the different MARSEC Levels (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Know the emergency procedures and contingency plans (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Have knowledge of inspection, control and monitoring techniques (33 CFR 105.210).
  • Perform secondary personnel, vehicle and person inspections and searches when required.
  • Follow all verbal and written directives, orders, and commands.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess a Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Live within 1 (one) hours driving time of the Port.
  • Prior security, and/or law enforcement experience. Supervisory experience a plus.

POSITION: Police Officer (Part Time)

SALARY: Dependent on qualifications.

SUMMARY:
This posting is to establish an Eligibility List for future Police Officer positions.

Performs assigned duties with operational and administrative components such as: Cruise Terminal Security Operations, Marine Patrol, Cargo Area Regulatory Enforcement, Special Events, evidence, vehicle maintenance, inventory control, and communications. Work is performed under the general direction of the Police Sergeant to maintain law and order and protect the public, detect and prevent crimes, direct and control traffic, and investigate and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity. Perform duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.

DUTIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Public Administration or a related field preferred
  • One (1) year of experience as a sworn Police Officer
  • Certification by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Police Standards and Training Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Valid State of Florida Drivers License
  • Possess and maintain current CPR Certification to include the use of AED.
  • Must be at least nineteen years of age
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
  • Must meet minimum physical and medical requirements
  • Must reside within 50 miles from Port Canaveral
  • Must pass an oral review board
  • Must be able to work day or night, weekdays, weekends or holidays, any shift, any day of the week
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Ability: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, calculators, copies, facsimile machines, firearms, restraint devices, two-way radios, surveillance equipment, cameras, flashlights, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may involve walking, standing, running and physical confrontation. Physical demand requirements are for Medium to Heavy Work. Must have the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using law enforcement equipment.

Sensory Requirements: In accordance with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement minimum vision must be at least 20/70 either/or both, corrected to 20/30, and the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of colors and hearing must be normal at a distance of fifteen (15) feet.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as noise, solvents, odors, slippery and uneven surfaces, heights, machinery, traffic hazards, as well as varying weather conditions, i.e., hot and cold temperatures, rain, etc.
